Namita (Nami) Mody is a Project Manager at Third Sector based in Washington, DC.

Nami (she/her) joins Third Sector following five years in the local government of the District of Columbia. Most recently, she led the Council Office of Racial Equity, a research team responsible for assessing the racial equity impact of permanent bills. Assessments covered all topics under the Council's jurisdiction and were publicly released prior to the Councilmembers’ vote. Nami was named Director in May 2022 after serving on the founding team as Associate Director of Policy & Systems.

Before working at the Council, Nami was a member of The Lab @ DC, an applied research team in the Mayor's Office. There, she primarily worked on housing and homelessness projects, supporting District agencies in asking questions, testing policies, and improving how they served residents.

Nami earned a BS in Business Economics from New York University and a Master in Public Policy from Harvard University, concentrating in social and urban policy. While pursuing her master’s, she worked on issues of gun violence at the Mayor’s Office in the City of Detroit and on improving the release of open data through human-centered design.

Outside of work, Nami hikes, thrifts, and thinks too much about getting a dog.
